About NABARAKU

Start here. This page gives you the essentials, the story behind the lodge, and the kind of details that make a stay feel easy. NABARAKU is set up so you can focus on the mountains, not logistics.

To make your stay in Hakuba simple and flexible, guests have access to two eight seat 4×4 vehicles for the full duration of the booking. The cars are included in the stay and are ideal for moving around the valley in any season, from ski resort mornings to onsen evenings and day trips beyond Hakuba. In winter, the extra capability matters, and for groups it means you can stay independent and move on your own timing.

Support is available whenever you want it, whether it’s help with logistics, choosing the right resort for the day, or quick recommendations for food, cafés, and local spots. You can keep everything low touch and do your own thing, or ask for a few tips to make the most of your time depending on weather and conditions.

Arrival can be made easy too. Pick up and drop off at Hakuba Station can be arranged on request, so you can travel light and settle in without stress. Hakuba itself is accessible from Tokyo via train and bus connections through Nagano, and once you’re here, getting around is straightforward. The rest is up to you.

Run by Czechs

NABARAKU isn’t a corporate concept. It’s a renovated mountain lodge run by a small Czech crew of riders, nature lovers, and creatives who fell for Japan and decided to build something real here. We took an existing traditional lodge and carefully brought it back to life with respect for the original character, then shaped it into a place we’d genuinely want to stay in ourselves.

We’re also here to push Hakuba forward. We bring a Czech, rider-driven mindset that sees this valley as more than just deep pow days. For us, Hakuba is a year-round playground and a place worth exploring in every season — and we want to be part of shaping that future, sharing its beauty, and building a new generation of experiences around it.

Invisible Guide

Behind NABARAKU there’s one person you’ll get to know best: Viktor. He’s not a remote manager, but the guy who actually lives these mountains. A Czech rider, nature lover, and music fan, he moved to Hakuba for the snow and slow winter nights. He answers your messages, helps with booking, and can pick you up at the station when you arrive.

He knows where the powder stays dry the longest, which onsens are quiet at night, and which family restaurants feel like home. If you want company, he’ll grab a beer, share a few Hakuba stories, or even join a jam at the local bar.

If you want privacy, he stays in the background and lets you have the lodge to yourselves. With Viktor, you get clear info, quick replies, and the sense that someone’s truly looking out for your trip.

Absolutely amazing place!
This was a great place for our ski trip. The home was welcoming, well equipped and very charming, in a location that made everything easy.

The host was extremely thoughtful and generous with his local ski knowledge and his time. His recommendations helped make the most of our time on and off the slopes.
We loved this house and our time in Hakuba and would gladly go back.

Can’t recommend this place enough!

Perfect accommodation, comfortable and thoughtfully refined down to the last detail. I’d especially like to thank our host, Viktor, who shared plenty of valuable tips and took great care of us. And thanks for the final jam session

Very comfortable accommodation where you’ll find everything you need, combined with a great design experience.

The friendliness and warmth of our host, Viktor, are truly exceptional. He’s always willing to help, offers great advice, and genuinely cares about his guests. He constantly asks for feedback on what could be improved, but honestly, there’s nothing to improve.

The stay exceeded our expectations in every way.
